Many people ask for deep work having no knowledge of how to define deep massage. It's like a song or a painting very subjective in how they and you see it as acceptable. It comes back to angles and posture and leverage. It's not being a snow plow.
Many times people become complacent in their ways of doing work over and over the same way with no creative changes in the plan.
Have you ever felt you were in a contest and tried to out muscle someone on the table. Only to realize you were the one feeling all the pain the next day?
Learning new ways to help you stay in the game longer, by protecting your body with the help of tools.
Glass tools can chip if dropped and create a lot of damage if you weren't alert to the fact one was chipped prior to using it. Insurance nightmare. Just like ceramic. Pray you have some great insurance if you cut someone during working on them.
These are just as easy to chip and also be found to become quite cold, however some can be heated up.
Seldom ever gets cold to touch and is usually quite durable, specially compared to glass. Very fine sandpaper can also help with a smoother surface.
Present time I offer 3 classes with the http://www.ncbtmb.org and they will be taught not in any sequence. You don't have a prerequisite for any class. Round up a group of people whom have a desire to take some extra hours of ceu's , provided they have a desire to have a little sun in their life and spend some time in the valley learning some new skills. The kicker you can write this expense off ask your accountant.
So if a class is 10 people we will need 4 to bring a table with them. Sheets must be brought and some oil or cream and their favorite tool of choice by each person attending. Attendance Policy: Must attend at least 90% the advertised course hours (time) to receive offered CE Hours. No partial hours can be awarded. (Sorry - NCBTMB Rules)
80% hands-on, 20% lecture, Casual and comfortable dress attire (may require removal of clothing for targeted areas). In the event an instructor gets ill and is unable to teach, the money will be returned and we will do our best to hopefully see you in a future class. We will always do our best in giving you as much advanced notification.
If the participant incurs any expenses due to cancellation of an event, such as hotel or flight costs, those expenses are the participant's sole responsibility, regardless of the reason for cancellation. We suggest that those people who book hotel rooms or airline flights purchase fully refundable rooms and tickets or purchase travel insurance /this insures travel and is not life or accident insurance/. This situation has never occurred however anything in life is possible.
The following conditions may preclude attending or being fully active in a class:
Please contact the instructor prior to registering if you have any questions about your ability to fully participate.

Have some fun in a workshop where you are learning new ways to work on people and making friends with those whom share the same interests of expanding knowledge and saving your hands.
Multiple areas of the body will be covered and you will have time to learn some safe strokes, and perhaps some not so safe strokes. Most people will not be using tools on sensitive areas. Certain muscle groups can be a lot more touchy. Therefore, you will learn the appropriate pressure, and various array of tools to use.
Always challenging walking into a class where you are learning new ways in which some may be open to and some may not however you may choose to step out of your comfort zone and try something different. Note some businesses will not allow the therapist to use a tool to protect their hands...
Why? No training, liability issues, primarily FEAR you will push to hard and hurt the client.
One will have to realize everybody has a level that is painful to the touch and the goal should not be to see how much pressure one can tolerate.
However some people can endure much more pressure than what some people are willing to give out. John a man with a need for unreal pressure level. Why? He was doing lots of painkillers prior to his massage... This is where the smart therapist doesn't get into a war with him about pressure level.
When someone says to much pressure do you apply more?
Do you think if they don't speak up they may like it and be able to handle that type pressure? Communication may be the most important key. If your expecting someone to read your mind HMMMM good luck with that. I have come to realize a few things that help with the level of pressure is breathing as it works with Lamaze and the wiggle factor ask me in class I will take some time to address it.
Some of this is simple common sense as your aware certain areas you don't want to work on when there is a bruise or stitches. Realize those whom have the flu or cold may be more sore just like a person whom got done working out hard or running a marathon or someone on pills or drugs or a smoker or a person whom drinks Diet pop with the heavy concentration of Aspartame in it , it becomes toxic within the body and seems to be felt in the muscles . In my years I have come upon those with Fibromyalgia like symptoms and worked with a wide array of different body types.
Some will, some wont, so what. don't get stuck, some may be offended at your new skill of introducing a tool to their skin. Just like some may not like vibration. Its a choice as the therapist if you want to work with a client whom is not open to your way in which you work. If your pushing to hard there is always the ability to exhibit pain which will let them know they didn't come for that. So don't go crazy with your pressure and always check in. Sure they are paying you for your skill to work on their pain. The goal should not be for you to walk away hurt out of the administering of that skill.
